Missy’s Short Stories [Audiobook]
These short stories by Missy Wood were all written when she was between the ages of seven and sixteen. When a lesson in Missy’s daily learning at home requested she write a research paper, an essay or a persuasive paper, etc., she would expand what she had learnt through this exercise and bring it into a story format, and consequently here are the results in this little book (which has been converted into audiobook form).
PLEASE NOTE: Also available from ALL major audiobook providers.
As a home educating (Homeschooling) Mom, I’m sure you will find lots of little treasures that come out of your children’s hearts. You may hear poems or short stories they have written that have been inspired through their language program. This is what happened with our daughter Missy. She so enjoyed authoring her book ‘Missy an Autobiography’ and ‘Missy’s Day to Day’, that we decided to compile all here works together in this book. ‘Missy’s Short Stories’. So this is a collection of short stories and poems written from about the age of seven, that then become more advanced stories as Missy grew into her senior years of home education (Homeschooling).
Missy shared this with us, “While I was going through my higher level studies at home, I started to get weary of writing reports. So instead of continuing and getting more and more discouraged with each report and the dryness of it, I decided to try a different approach and compile reports into a story. I would accumulate two or three different reports and then would take those and put them into a short story. By doing that, we ended up having quite a collection of short stories and poems that I had written on and off throughout my life up to that point.”
What I as a Mom have found to be of value in this, is that instead of us having a file of reports from Missy’s higher education years, we have a collection of short stories. These bring all those facts which she gathered, all the research about ancient times and Biblical times which she wrote about and then turned it into a fictional story. She now has this as a treasure which she can perhaps share with her own children one day.

You see here a creative and meaningful product of what otherwise could have been an academic file with a few language papers in the forms of essays, etc.
We hope that these little stories do not only inspire you, but that they also encourage you to allow flexibility and freedom within the learning process as you allow God’s direction to lead you to do with each learning experience that what He has purposed. In Missy’s example, she has been able to exercise the gift He has given her in writing stories. These are now in the form of this little publication, which we hope God will use for more reasons than was learnt through the process.
